Neighbourhood Plan

Why a Neighbourhood Plan?

A neighbourhood plan is our chance to have a say in the future of our parish. It is a powerful tool for shaping the development and growth of a local area.

Until the Localism Act in 2011, it was almost impossible for local communities such as ours to have a say in the planning matters that shape the place where we live. The Localism Act gives local communities the opportunity to develop a shared vision for their Neighbourhood and to shape the development and growth of their local area.

Modifications Statement
Wednesday 11th September 2024

Purton Parish Council provides the following modification Statement for the Purton Parish Neighbourhood Plan Revision:
The Parish Council proposes that its new Neighbourhood Plan (PNP2) will cover a new plan period to 2040 and contains some significant new policies, as well as the deletion or updating of some of the made neighbourhood plan (NP1) policies. The Parish Council considers that the combination of these PNP2 proposals will significantly change the nature of PNP1 and in any event it wants NP2 to be put to another Referendum to secure community support. As a result, the Parish Council considers the draft PNP2 to be a full replacement of PNP1 and will be examined as such, rather than as a ‘modification proposal’ under Regulation14(a)(v) of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended).
