Have your say on the Purton Neighbourhood Plan Revision
Back to overviewNovember 20, 2024
Purton Parish residents and other interested parties, will be able to have their say on the first draft of the Purton Neighbourhood Plan Revision, over the next six weeks, between 10.00am on Tuesday 10th of September, until the deadline for comments at 5.00pm on Tuesday 22nd of October, in a variety of ways, as part of Purton Parish Council’s ‘Pre-submission Regulation 14 Version Consultation.
For the unfamiliar, a Neighbourhood Plan is a vision document for the Parish, which includes objectives and policies on housing, environment, transport, facilities etc.
Neighbourhood Plans are used by Local Authorities such as Wiltshire Council and Housing Developers to understand what the local community needs and wants.
To ensure that Neighbourhood Plans stay up to date with local needs, they are reviewed and revised every five years. Critically, the involvement of the local community is the most important factor in shaping a Neighbourhood Plan, as it is the community’s feedback that helps to shape the priorities and objectives, within the document.
This autumn, Purton Parish Council will be making the first of their Neighbourhood Plan Revision available to everyone in order to obtain the community’s feedback, so it is an important opportunity to have your say.
Purton Parish Council will offer a variety of means to give everyone the opportunity to get involved, including online, at local venues, via consultation events and at a Question and Answer session.
After the six week consultation has closed, all the comments made on the Neighbourhood Plan Revision will be used to shape the next version of the document. Reassuringly, the public will have the chance to review it again, before it is finalised.
Details of all the venues, consultations, and locations are being made available in the Purton Magazine, on Council Notice Boards, at Purton Library, on the Parish Council website and via the Parish Council’s social media pages.
Clerk Deborah Lawrence said:
“Whilst Neighbourhood Planning often seems a subject that is difficult to relate to, we would encourage everyone to get involved in whatever way suits them, because this is their chance to have a say, in the future of their Parish.”
