New Co-opted Councillor Committed To Community Involvement
Back to overviewMay 14, 2024
At the Parish Council Meeting, on Monday 13th of May, a new Parish Councillor Christopher Moncrieffe (aka Chris) was Co-opted onto Purton Parish Council.
Previously a local Councillor for Lyneham and now a Project Manager for Highways Operations, Growth & Environment, Hertfordshire County Council (travel schemes and road safety), Chris brings a wealth of public sector experience with him.
Within Purton, Chris intends to be a very visible, approachable, Parish Councillor. As such, he aims to regularly engage with local residents; become someone who is ‘front and centre of village life’; and be a Councillor who works to ‘meet the needs of local people.’
Keen to make a difference, Chris is interested in getting involved with the Community Hub at the Purton Red House; working closely with local groups; and learning all the facts and figures.
As an approach, Chris is ready to observe first and take, ‘a holistic view of what’s going on and what we can be done’ before working towards any changes.
Chris loves living in Wiltshire and has lived within the Swindon area for about 12 years. This includes living in Swindon itself and Lyneham, before settling in Purton about a year and a half ago. He lives with his partner Ellis, two dogs, and has two sons.
In his own time, Chris enjoys regular walks with his Staffy Cross (Bailey) and his Terrier (Betsy). Chris is also a very keen pool player, who previously played at county level, and enjoys playing pool at the Purton Club and Purton Red House each week.
Chris said:
“I enjoyed being a Councillor for Lyneham, so I wanted to improve the environment within the village and to help local people”
Do stop to chat to Chris if you see him around the village, he’d love to chat!
