New Councillor Champions the needs of Ridgeway Farm Residents
Back to overviewFebruary 14, 2023
Lucy Benjamin has recently been welcomed, as a new volunteer Parish Councillor at Purton Parish Council, and is keen to help with issues raised by her neighbours, at the Ridgeway Farm development in Purton.
Raised in Swindon and resident in Purton, Cllr Lucy Benjamin studied at the University of South Wales where she completed a degree in Forensic Science.
Before settling to have a family, Cllr Lucy Benjamin worked in Retail and gave her time to several voluntary roles in the community, such as being a part of a school PTA; helping at local uniformed groups; sorting and setting up exhibits at the Old Town Museum; and supporting Dementia Patients.
Now a dedicated Mum with a growing family, including another little one expected this March, Cllr Lucy Benjamin is enjoying traditional, ‘old school’, family life, at home.
As a parent and Councillor, she’s keen to ensure the best possible provision for children and young people in Purton, through both outdoor spaces and indoor youth provision.
Driven by issues in her own locality, Cllr Lucy Benjamin would also like to see what can be done about speeding, transport links, and parking issues at the Ridgeway Farm development.
Cllr Lucy Benjamin said:
“I could see that there were lots of concerns being by residents raised on Facebook, but no-one knew what to do, so I thought I would see if I can help by being an active part of my community and local council.
It’s interesting to get involved and to see just how much Purton Parish Council overseas of life in Purton.”
