PURTON PARISH COUNCIL WELCOMES LOCAL VIEWS ON THE POSSIBLE SALE OF THE GRASSED AREA AT REID’S PIECE
Back to overviewJuly 31, 2023
Purton Parish Council owns two pieces of land at Reid’s Piece. This is land was previously used as a play area and a youth club site.
Currently the land is not used by Purton Parish Council, but funds are being spent on maintaining it and no money is being made from it.
If this grassed area of land was sold, Purton Parish Council would avoid maintenance costs, but due to the low land value and covenants in place with Wiltshire Council, its sale would generate little funds.
Last year, Purton Parish Council asked everyone about living in Purton and what they wanted to do with the land at Reid's Piece. They said that they want it to be used to help young people.
If sold now, Purton Parish Council can tell any developers that they must build something that helps local young people as part of the Conditions of Sale, in line with local people’s views.
Purton Parish Council is now asking residents, if they think that they should sell the grassed area of land at Reid's Piece. This will help Purton Parish Council to understand what local people think and to keep it in mind, when they make the final decision.
