Purton Residents Make Their Voices Heard On Future Of Grassed Area At Reid’s Piece

At a Purton Parish Council Meeting on Monday 11th September, Purton Parish Council reviewed survey results regarding the possible sale of its land at Reid’s Piece and resolved to keep the grassed area.
This decision comes following the survey, regarding the possible sale of the grassed area at Reid’s Piece, which was previously used as a play area and a youth club site.
This unused area is being maintained at a cost to Purton Parish Council but was unlikely to have generated significant funds from any sale, given its low value and the covenants placed upon it.
Feedback from residents showed that they wanted to keep the area and keep it green, with three quarters asking for the land to be kept and many calling for it to be kept as open space, either for use as a wildlife area, play space, or for relaxation.
Cllr Ray Thomas, Chair of Purton Parish Council said:
“We are delighted to have received significant numbers of surveys back regarding the decision on this section of land. Being able to hear the voices of our village really helps us to make the decisions that everyone wants and needs. Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete our survey.”
