NEW SKATE PARK GRIND RAIL

Back to overview

July 31, 2023

Purton Parish Council are installing a ‘Grind Rail’ at the Village Centre Skate Park this autumn, in response to the views of local young people.

For those unfamiliar with Grind Rails, these metal lengths often resemble balance beans and allow skates to jump on and slide along on their boards. Ends are curved to minimise the effect of an impact.

Recently, local young people approached two of the village’s Councillors when they were out walking to ask if this addition to the skate park was possible.

The Recreation and Play Area Committee voted in favour of the proposal, given the high level of usage of the skate park by young people from the village.

The works will take around two weeks to install and will involve modifications and changes to existing layout to accommodate the new equipment.

Purton Parish Council are hoping that installation of the Grind Rail will be completed this Autumn.
